About 15 years ago, my mom and I were in the Target store in our new neighborhood where we found these great wooden tables in two sizes for ten dollars each. I bought about 6 of them…two long tall ones and four short square ones like this. They were all blonde wood, and nicely made. I’m sure they were mispriced, because the very next day I went back to buy a few more and they were $39 each—heads must have rolled. I’ve always wanted a chess table, so I painted this one to look very old and much used. Now I’m looking for some beautiful, old chess pieces. I actually do play chess a bit.
