| This sad and empty building used to house a Minyard's supermarket (Minyard's are known and respected in Dallas for providing grocery stores in economically stressed areas). After Minyard's gave up, it was briefly a Fiesta supermarket, reflecting the large hispanic population in the area.
To our current disappointment, there is no upscale grocery store within 2 miles of our house--but the downtown Farmer's Market is pretty convenient, just a short, 1.5 miles bike ride away. UPDATE: March 2007. Renovation complete, the "99¢ Only Store" has proven to be a very popular addition to the neighborhood. If you don't see the 99¢ store, just hover you mouse over the image of the old store and wait a few seconds. |
