Mike's twenty-eight year career began with the Equitable Life Assurance Society of New York. He then co-founded Equitable Plan Services, Inc., a third party administrator located in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. There, he served as President for eight years. He was successful at streamlining administrative processes and systems integration on behalf of his clients. Subsequently, Mike contributed an integral role in the co-founding of PPO Oklahoma, a statewide PPO network. He sold his interest in both Equitable Plan Services and PPO Oklahoma.
In 1995, Mike founded Corporate Health Plans of America, Inc. (CHPA), in Dallas, Texas. With CHPA, he successfully implemented his concept of a contemporary consulting firm, delivering service to clients in a three-phase approach defined by the RFP development phase, the implementation phase, and the ongoing account management and audit phase. In building CHPA, Mike assembled a powerful team of consultants, specializing in their respective fields of expertise. He sold CHPA to Gallagher Consulting in 2004 to focus solely on Texas True Choice.
As founder, President, and CEO of Texas True Choice, Inc., (TTC), Mike responded to the challenge of providing premiere statewide PPO access to clients with employees spread throughout the state of Texas. Incorporated in 1996, TTC is the fastest growing PPO network in the state of Texas, represented by 356 acute care hospitals and more than 43,000 physicians. As an independent preferred provider network, TTC is dedicated to bringing service and support to its clients in terms of network access, discounts and ease of administration. TTC has become well known for its "partnership" approach with providers and employers which results in an environment where all parties are able to solve their primary health plan-related concerns. TTC's unparalleled service to its physician and hospital partners throughout the years has afforded them the reputation as the most "provider friendly" network in Texas. Texas True Choice provides commercial, CHIP and Foster Care network coverage to more than 1,000,000 members throughout the state of Texas.
Mike sold Texas True Choice to Viant Holdings, Inc., (Viant) on October 1, 2007. Viant acquired Texas True Choice for $54 million, consisting of $44 million in cash consideration and shares of Viant Holdings common stock. Viant (formerly Concentra Network Services), provides healthcare payment solutions through primary and supplemental networks, integrated network and contract management, specialized cost containment strategies and post payment recovery services to the U.S. health insurance industry in both the public and private sectors. Viant also owns Beech Street nationally, and ppoNEXT in Texas.
Mike is a member of the Board of Directors of Viant and continues to serve as the CEO of Texas True Choice.
